There are two types of stone sealers that we use; topical and impregnable. Topical sealers are surface coatings that sit on top of the stone surface and don’t penetrate into the pores of the stone. A topical sealer is designed so that the molecules bond directly to the surface of the stone to create a protective barrier. Impregnable sealers contain resins that are transported by water or solvents that penetrate the surface of the stone. Solvent-based impregnable sealers penetrated stone at a greater depth but are not suitable for all applications.
