Engineered/Man Made Stone Type Information

Engineered stone is otherwise known as man-made stone. It is a composite consisting of combination of crushed stone (i.e marble) and typically a polymer resin or cement mix. Most engineered stones are made to closely resemble the look of the most popular colours and textures of natural stones, with granite being the most popular look replicated. The most prevalent brands of engineered stones are Caesarstone, Essastone, Smartstone and are often found in the form of bench tops in a vast number of homes these days but also can be found as tiles for flooring. Engineered bench tops are prone to chipping occurring due to a blunt heavy force usually coming in contact with the edge of the bench.
